National Open end in disappointing fashion Tuesday.

As for Jenson Turner, his impressive journey lived to see another day.

Less than 24 hours removed from three-set victories over Fullerton's Michael Eraso and Thousand Oaks' Callen Fraychineaud in the consolation draw, Turner outlasted sixth-seeded Ryan Gormley of Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. ``I'm exhausted,'' said Turner, who is playing in only his third 18-under event after finishing second in the 16-under division at last year's tournament. ``I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

Turner, who will face Orange's Steve Johnson Steve Johnson is the name of:

at 10:45 a.m. today, benefited from the additional rest following a walkover victory over Harvard-Westlake of Studio City's Ryan Thacher in his fifth-place quarterfinal.

Following a disappointing second set, Turner remained poised in the crucial moments of the third to add the Penn State-bound Gormley to his list of victims this week.

In addition to his victories over Eraso (Brigham Young) and Fraychineaud (Southern Mississippi), Turner opened the tournament with a straight- set win over fifth-seeded Bijan Moallemi (Cal).

Turner's lone loss came against UC Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850.  sophomore Bijan Hejazi, who won the tournament title Tuesday with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Poway's Bradley Klahn.

, but after an impressive semifinal victory over El Cajon's April Bisharat earlier in the day, she came up short in her bid to win the 16-under championship, suffering a 7-6 (4), 7-5 setback to Corona's Arianna Colffer at Lakewood Tennis Center.

It was redemption for the 15-year-old Colffer, who had lost her previous three meetings with the second-seeded Sulahian -- including a 6-2, 6-4 setback in the round of 32 at the USTA National Open in February -- and suffered a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 loss to San Jose's Tayler Davis in the final of the 14-under division last year.

Sulahian battled back from a 4-1 first-set deficit against Colffer to take 5-4 and 6-5 leads. But in the tiebreaker tie·break·er

, Colffer fought back from 3-2 down to score four straight points and seize control.

Sulahian rallied from love-30 in the 10th game to tie the score 5-5, but Colffer held serve in the next game and broke her opponent to close out the match.

Sulahian then went and played her doubles semifinal match with Encinitas' Jacquie Harrison, suffering an 8-5 loss to Davis and Corona del Mar of Newport Beach's Cierra Gaytan-Leach.

Campbell Hall senior Katarina Reveche, the No. 2 seed in the girls' 18-under draw, couldn't survive a grueling fifth-place quarterfinal match against seventh-seeded Asia Muhammad of Las Vegas, falling 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at Seal Beach Tennis Center.

Malibu junior Daniel Moss, the third seed in the boys' 16-under draw, rebounded from a 6-2, 6-1 semifinal setback to champion Jason Smith of Davis to defeat Brentwood's Walker Kehrer 6-2, 6-2 in the third-place match.
