 summer schedule just got a little more crowded.

A week after finishing sixth in the boys' 18-under division at the 104th annual Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Thacher's participation in the tournament is one of five events the nation's top-ranked 16-year-old is scheduled to compete in during the next six weeks. But the Daily News' Player of the Year learned Friday that he will add a sixth competition to his calendar with his selection to the Southern California roster for the boys' 18-under national team championship July 29-Aug. 1 in Urbana, Ill.

Thacher, an unseeded entry in the 64-player draw for this week's event, was selected to represent Southern California for the 16-under intersectional team championships July 9-13 in Shreveport, La., joining Thousand Oaks' JT Sundling, Arroyo Grande's Andre Dome and Orange's Steve Johnson Steve Johnson is the name of:
  • Steve Johnson (AFL) is an Australian Football League player.
  • Steve Johnson (basketball) is a former National Basketball Association player.
  • Steve Johnson (Bethel) is the current head coach of Bethel University's football team.

Thacher and Johnson -- the finalists in this year's Southern Section tournament -- were the only two players picked to compete in both events.

Although no area players are seeded among the top 16 in the boys' 18-under draw, the top two seeds in the girls' 18-under division are Agoura's Leyla Entekhabi and Canoga Park's Katarina Reveche, a senior at Campbell Hall Campbell Hall can refer to:
  • a residence hall at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech)
  • Campbell Hall School in North Hollywood, California
 of North Hollywood.

Campbell Hall junior Michelle Sulahian is seeded second in the girls' 16-under division and Malibu junior Daniel Moss is the third seed in the boys' 16-under division.

The championship matches in the 16-under division are scheduled for Tuesday at Lakewood Tennis Center. The 18-under division finals are Tuesday at Seal Beach Seal Beach, city (1990 pop. 25,098), Orange co., S Calif., on the Pacific coast; inc. 1915. It is a beach city with an active art colony. Transportation equipment and concrete are among the city's manufactures. U.S. naval stations are nearby.  Tennis Center.
