TENNIS: QUERREY INVITED TO COMPETE IN U.S. OPEN T.O. GRAD GETS WILD-CARD ENTRY INTO PRESTIGIOUS MAJOR.

Sam Querrey Sam Querrey (born October 7, 1987 in San Francisco, California, United States) is a pro American tennis player from Thousand Oaks, California.

Many tennis experts have touted Querrey as America's next great talent, including Davis Cup Captain Patrick McEnroe.
 has taken advantage of several wild-card entries this year to compete against some of the world's best players in ATP Masters Series The ATP Masters Series is a series of nine tennis tournaments that are part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tour, held annually throughout the year in Europe and North America. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  High graduate as one of seven American men to receive a wild card into the singles main draw of next week's U.S. Open.

After trips to Flushing Meadows, N.Y., the past two years to compete in the U.S. Open Junior Championsihps, the 18-year-old Querrey will finally get his opportunity to compete in the world's richest professional tennis event.

Along with Querrey, reigning USTA 18-under boys' national champion Donald Young of Atlanta earned his second consecutive wild-card berth into the main draw at the National Tennis Center. Young, the youngest of the seven recipients at 17, defeated Querrey 7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-2 in last year's 18-under national final.

Scoville Jenkins (Atlanta), Alex Kuznetsov (Richboro, Pa.), Wayne Odesnik (Weston, Fla.), Phillip Simmonds (Reston, Va.) and Ryan Sweeting (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) were also selected.

 Challenger events in less than a month after turning pro, has vaulted from No. 756 in the world rankings at the beginning of the year to No. 191. He peaked at No. 178 last week.

He recently competed in the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters in Ohio, losing 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-3 in Tuesday's opening-round match against Spain's Rafael Nadal, the world's No. 2-ranked player.

It was Querrey's fourth appearance in a U.S. Open Series event leading up to the year's final grand slam.
