TENNIS: MCVITTY AIMS FOR A TITLE WIN.

In a little more than a month, Kristen McVitty and Jennifer Stevens will be teammates at University of Virginia.

The two highly-touted tennis prospects are also the central figures in the Cavaliers' incoming freshman class, rated the best in the country according to according to

 18-under National Clay Court A clay court is one of the four different types of tennis court. Clay courts are made of crushed shale, stone or brick. The red clay is slower than the green, or Har-Tru "American" clay. The French Open uses clay courts, making it unique among the Grand Slam titles.  Championships.

Stevens, a Miami, Fla., resident, won back-to-back national titles on clay, first in the 16-under division in 2003, followed by a championship at the 18-under event in Memphis in 2004.

In one of her final USTA events before beginning fall practice at Virginia, McVitty - a Calabasas High graduate - is seeded third in the 18- under draw at The Racquet Club of Memphis, looking to add a clay court title to her hard court victory at the Winter Nationals in Arizona in January.

McVitty, who recently returned from doubles competition at the Wimbledon Junior Championships, heads a group of 20 local players competing in the 14-, 16- and 18-under clay court events this week.

Agoura's Leyla Entekhabi, Campbell Hall Campbell Hall can refer to:

  • Campbell Hall School in North Hollywood, California
 of North Hollywood's Katarina Reveche and McVitty's former high school teammate, Erin Wiesener, are also entered in the girls' 18-under draw.

The boys' 16- and 18-under championships are being run simultaneously at the Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md.

Harvard-Westlake of Studio City's Jordan Abergel, Ryan Thacher and Michael Vann are scheduled to compete in the 18-under division.

Malibu's Daniel Moss, Thousand Oaks' JT Sundling and Campbell Hall's Jenson Turner are entered in the 16-under division.

The boys' 18-under singles champion will receive a wild card into the main draw at the Legg-Mason Tennis Championships in August in Washington, D.C. The boys' 18-under singles finalist and the boys' 16-under singles champion will receive wild cards Symbols used to represent any value when selecting specific files. In DOS, Windows and Unix, the asterisk (*) represents any collection of characters, and the question mark (?) represents one single character. In SQL, the percent sign (%) and underscore (_) are used for matching text.  into the Legg-Mason qualifying draw.
