TENNECO NAMES THEODORE AUSTELL DIRECTOR, GOVERNMENT RELATIONS
HOUSTON, Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Tenneco Inc. (NYSE: TGT) announced today that Theodore Austell III has been named director, government relations. He is responsible for directing the company's issues management function and representing the company's issues before government bodies. He reports to John Castellani, vice president, government relations.
Before joining Tenneco, Austell was executive assistant to the head of the county government in Fairfax County, Va. During the 10 years he served there as executive assistant, Austell directed numerous projects that required building effective coalitions between the private sector and public organizations.
Austell joined the Fairfax County government in 1979 as assistant to the director of the Fairfax County Department of Environmental Management. In 1980, he received a master's in public management and policy from Carnegie-Mellon University. He was an intern in the United States Presidential Management program from 1980 to 1982, and has studied civil engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Austell, 35, is active in professional organizations, including the International City/County Management Association, the American Society of Public Administrators, and the Virginia Local Government Management Association.
Tenneco is a Houston-based diversified industrial company with major business interests in natural gas pipelines (Tenneco Gas), farm and construction equipment (J I Case), automotive parts (Tenneco Automotive), packaging (Packaging Corporation of America), shipbuilding (Newport News), and chemicals (Albright & Wilson).
