TENNECO'S CASE CORPORATION SELLS COMPACTION BUSINESS
HOUSTON, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its ongoing

restructuring plan, Case Corporation, a subsidiary of Tenneco Inc. (NYSE: TGT), announced today that it has sold selected assets of its Vibromax compaction equipment business, headquartered in Dusseldorf, Germany, to Hermann Frantz. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Case sold Frantz selected assets and intellectual property, including Vibromax patents, drawings, technical expertise and trademarks. It also sold its Vibromax parts inventory and agreed to continue distributing Vibromax compaction equipment through Case company-owned stores in Europe. Dealers of both Case and Vibromax equipment will be offered new contracts by Frantz, whose new company will be called Vibromax 2000.
Vibromax 2000 will produce the Vibromax line for worldwide distribution beginning in late 1992. In Europe and North America, Vibromax 2000 will discuss the distribution opportunities of Vibromax compaction equipment and parts with former Case compaction equipment dealers. In Europe, Case will distribute Vibromax equipment through its retail stores. The International Business Group of Case will offer Vibromax products in other parts of the world.
The Vibromax compaction equipment line includes double vibration tandem rollers; combination, self-propelled and towed vibratory rollers; vibrating plates, pedestrian rollers and asphalt/concrete cutters.
Case sold its compaction manufacturing plant in Dusseldorf, Germany, last year, and leased back the operation. Case intends to cease production at the plant this fall and close the plant by the end of 1992.
Headquartered in Racine, Wis., Case is a leading worldwide maker of agricultural and construction equipment. Tenneco is a Houston-based, diversified industrial corporation with other major business interests in natural gas pipelines, automotive parts, packaging, shipbuilding, chemicals and minerals.
