TELIDENT, INC. BRINGS ENHANCED 9-1-1 SYSTEM TO HAMLINE UNIVERSITY

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Telident, Inc. today announced that it has installed a 9-1-1 Station Translation System (9-1-1 STSTM) at the campus of Hamline University, St. Paul, Minn. Telident's 9-1-1 STSTM quickly and accurately identifies the exact location from where a 9-1-1 call is placed within a PBX system. PBX systems are centralized telephone operating exchanges utilized extensively by colleges, businesses and government agencies.
Personal safety is at risk due to a delay in the ability to automatically pinpoint an emergency situation within a PBX operating system. Often encompassing many buildings and floors, a PBX is not programmed to reveal the exact location from where an emergency call originates. The loss of time may result in tragedy.
When an emergency call is dialed, Telident's 9-1-1 STSTM first identifies the telephone station and then transmits a seven-digit number specifying the geographic location of the telephone from which the emergency call was made. The result is fast, accurate dispatching of the emergency response team.
According to Hamline Vice President of Finance and Operations Peter Lilienthal, the university purchased Telident's 9-1-1 STSTM to provide a safer, more secure environment for all Hamline students, faculty, staff and visitors. "This proven product addresses a risk exposure that few college and university administrators realize exists," said Lilienthal. "The cost of the equipment is very reasonable and could easily be recouped by preventing just one emergency-related tragedy."
Telident Chairman Richard Hencley said, "We are very pleased about Hamline University's decision to install the 9-1-1 STSTM. It is gratifying to be a part of the university's efforts to make its campus a more secure place to live, learn and work."
