TEKTRONIX REALIGNS INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONS; NAMES LAMPRECHT EUROPEAN PRESIDENT

WILSONVILLE, Ore., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move designed to bring greater focus to its international business, Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK) announced today that Rudi Lamprecht will join the company as vice president and president, European Operations on November 1, 1993.
At the same time, John Vold, previously vice president, International, will assume the post of vice president and president, Pacific Operations, including Latin America. Both Vold and Lamprecht report to Delbert Yocam, Tektronix president and chief operating officer.
"This organizational change recognizes the different business challenges we face in our international markets," Yocam said. "Europe, which is our second largest market, is experiencing economic difficulties in some regions. It also presents us with tremendous business opportunities in new markets like the Eastern countries and the Middle East, so it is important that we bring additional management focus to bear on these operations. As importantly, we have tremendous growth opportunities in our Pacific Rim and Latin American markets, and the focus of a senior executive on these regions will help us develop that promise."
Lamprecht, 44, joins Tektronix from a 20-year career in European management at Hewlett-Packard. Most recently, he was European sales manager for H-P's workstation business and also was responsible for channel distribution of all of the company's computer products in Europe. His sales and marketing tenure also included servings as European marketing manager for computer systems and instrumentation.
"Rudi Lamprecht has the proven ability to manage diverse sales organizations throughout Europe and also has been responsible for consistently increasing sales in difficult economic times." Yocam said. "He will be an integral part of our operations management team, and as such, will make sure our decision making is even more sensitive to the needs of our European customers."
Tektronix is a leading manufacturer of electronics products in the areas of test and measurement, computer graphics and television systems. Revenues in fiscal 1993 were $1.3 billion. The company is headquartered in Wilsonville, Ore. and has operations worldwide.
