TEKTRONIX NAMES SPIVEY VICE PRESIDENT, BUSINESS ALLIANCES

 WILSONVILLE, Ore., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Tektronix Inc. (NYSE: TEK) has named William R. Spivey, 46, to the new position of vice president, business alliances. Spivey reports to John P. Karalis, vice president, business development, and is responsible for identifying and negotiating a range of business partnerships for Tektronix. He also will manage the divestiture of certain businesses that the company said it will exit as part of a restructuring program announced on June 24, 1993.
 Previously Spivey was vice president, network displays and display products at Tektronix. Gerald Perkel, general manager of the network displays business operation, which includes the company's X terminal business, will continue in his post and now reports to Delbert W. Yocam, Tektronix president and chief operating officer.
 "As we move forward with our restructuring, it is critical that we have someone with Bill Spivey's experience and talent in operating management lead our efforts to build business alliances and exit non- strategic operations," Karalis said. "Throughout his career and during his two years at Tektronix, Bill has demonstrated a thorough grasp of the customer and employee relations issues surrounding ownership changes."
 Spivey joined Tektronix in 1991 as vice president, computer graphics. Prior to that, he had a 13-year career in management at Honeywell Inc., where he was most recently vice president and general manager of the company's keyboard division.
 He holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in physics from Duquesne University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania respectively and also earned a doctorate in management from Walden University in Minnesota.
 Tektronix is a leading manufacturer of electronics products and systems in areas of test and measurement, computer graphics and television systems. Revenues in fiscal 1993 were $1.3 billion. Tektronix employed 9,840 people at year end. The company is headquarted in Wilsonville, Ore., and has operations worldwide.
