``They say we are going to be busy every day,'' the teen said. ``We'll be able to see what daily life is like for them and how it compares to American life.''

While learning as much as he can about his own country - brushing up on current events, government and climate patterns to pass on that knowledge - Jeremy also is learning about the countries he'll be visiting.

``I never knew much about them,'' he said. ``But now I'm slowly learning about it. My uncle has been there. He says it's one of the prettiest places he's ever been.''

The Student Ambassador Program, hosted by the People to People organization, has sent more than 100,000 American and Canadian students to 25 countries since 1963.

People to People was formed by President Eisenhower, who believed that reaching out to people in different countries could contribute significantly to world peace.

``I think it's a wonderful experience. He's going to learn a lot,'' Sherry Fried said of her son. ``If a person just went to visit, they wouldn't be able to have some of the experiences he's going to have.''
