Such is the case with 18-year-old Lancaster resident Kimberly Gloudemans, for whom 24 hours in a day may not be enough.

``It's hard. It's a juggling process,'' Gloudemans said. ``There's 24 hours in a day and I try to utilize as many of those hours as I can. I love everything I do. I just can't sit around my house and do nothing - it's just not me. I think that's why I'm so involved, and that's why I'm so motivated.''

Gloudemans is in Fresno this week preparing for the Miss California Pageant, in which she is the first representative from the region including the Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. ``I could come back from this and not win Miss California and still be really happy,'' Gloudemans said. ``If I don't win, the sun still rises tomorrow morning, and I still go to work, and I still go to school, and I still pursue my career. Nothing changes except for the amount of scholarship money I get, and either way I'm going to go to college.''
