TEEN GIRL ARRESTED NEAR TRUCK STOPS.
CASTAIC -- A 14-year-old girl was arrested early Wednesday and held on suspicion of loitering for purposes of prostitution after sheriff's deputies found her near Castaic's truck stops, sheriff's officials said Thursday.
The teen-age runaway was spotted about 12:30 a.m. at Castaic Road and Parker Road near the half-mile stretch through town that caters to truckers and other travelers, according to the report.
The girl, reported missing from the Central Coast area, was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor loitering for the purposes of prostitution, violating the 10 p.m. curfew for minors and a felony charge of providing false information by claiming she was 21, sheriff's Sgt. Steve Casaus said.
Deputies patrolling the area saw the girl and watched her about 15 minutes before questioning her, Casaus said. She claimed to be a prostitute and when she was booked lied about her age, he said. A fingerprint check identified her as the missing 14-year-old.
She was taken to Juvenile Hall in Sylmar.
