The 18-year-old had been walking down Kimberly Lane with his older brother when two men in a white compact, possibly a Toyota, came toward them at high speed. The brother ran toward their home on a nearby street while the 18-year-old ducked behind the minivan parked at the curb. The car stopped next to the van, and one of the men fired a single shot, which passed through the driver's side window and struck the window of the sliding door on the other side. The car pulled in front of the van then sped away, officials said. The victim refused treatment for his wound, officials said. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the car or its occupants. Deputies say they are unsure why the men in the car fired at the victim but believe that everyone involved was a gang member. The men in the car were described only as Latino. Anyone with any information in the shooting is asked to call the Palmdale sheriff's station at (661) 267-4300. CAPTION(S): photo Photo: (color) Sheriff's Sgt.
