TEEN DIES AFTER FATAL CRASH STOLEN-MOTOR HOME SUSPECT MAY BE CHARGED IN TWO HIGHWAY DEATHS.

Byline: Karen Maeshiro Staff Writer

After clinging to life for four days, a teenager has died from injuries he suffered when a stolen motor home fleeing sheriff's deputies after a fatal crash struck a car full of young people.

student Brian McWright, injured Saturday in a crash that also injured his older brother, a cousin and his brother's girlfriend, was taken off life support Tuesday, his father said.

``He was a caring, God-believing kid. He was reading the Bible and would say, 'Dad, I can't put it down,''' father Stevie McWright said Wednesday. ``He knew if he died, he would go to heaven. He told my niece (that) the day of the accident.''

The boy's death raises the possibility of a second murder charge against 40-year-old Christopher Hall of Palmdale, who was charged Tuesday with second-degree murder in the death of Lilian Mary Arevalo minutes before the crash that injured the teenagers.

Hall has pleaded not guilty to 23 counts, including second-degree murder, attempted murder In the criminal law, attempted murder is committed when the defendant does an act that is more than merely preparatory to the commission of the crime of murder and, at the time of these acts, the person has a specific intention to kill. , assault with a deadly weapon Assault with a Deadly Weapon is the term used to describe the act of threatening to harm one or more people by using a weapon (usually a firearm). The motor home that hit Arevalo's car, three others, and then the one containing the teenagers had been stolen from a Pearblossom gasoline station, probably within one to three hours of the first fatal crash.

Owner Louise Dott said she had parked the motor home at the station to sell it and had last checked on it Friday morning. She found out it was stolen when a sheriff's deputy called her after the crashes.

A detective showed her a photo of the long-haired, disheveled Hall, but she didn't recognize him as anyone who had talked to her about buying the vehicle, Dott said.

``I had not seen him before,'' Dott said.

The 28-foot-long motor home hit Arevalo's car after 4 p.m. Saturday on 47th Street East, south of Avenue R-8. Arevalo's car went out of control and crashed into a utility pole A utility pole, telegraph pole, telephone pole, power pole, or telegraph post is a post or pole upon which telecommunication network equipment is situated. .

The motor home kept going, allegedly causing two other minor collisions before deputies spotted it near Avenue P and 26th Street East, deputies said.

Deputies pursued the motor home for about eight minutes until it crashed into two more cars at Palmdale Boulevard and 50th Street East.

The car containing Brian McWright was dragged more than 100 feet before the motor home overturned. Hall was arrested there.

Brian McWright was going to start his sophomore year at Lancaster High School in the fall and was in Junior ROTC, said his father. Almost without fail every night before turning in, Brian McWright would tell his parents good night and that he loved them. He would wake them if they were asleep.
