"It's weird to go to a rehearsal and not dance," she said. "It's sometimes more difficult than being the dancer." The show benefited the Palmdale Playhouse Youth and Community Dance Company. Performing were 18 dancers ages 7 to 19. The program showed the evolution of dance from social dances to choreography for the stage. Rickman started the project in September 2005 under the mentorship of Heather Benes, director of the Palmdale Playhouse Youth and Community Ballet and Modern Dance Ensembles. Rickman has been a member of the Youth Ballet and Modern Dance Ensembles since 1999 and has appeared in numerous productions at the Palmdale Playhouse. She has also studied dance at the Mojave Movement Arts Center. |
