TECORE Introduces IP Service Delivery Platform; CAMEL/IN Application Server for Legacy Networks and IMS Infrastructure.

LAS VEGAS -- TECORE(R) Wireless Systems, a pioneer supplier of 3G and next-generation wireless networks, announced today its IP-SDP, an IP-based Service Delivery Platform that bridges the gap from today's existing wireless infrastructures to next-generation networks. The highly scalable, carrier class Linux based platform provides the foundation from which CAMEL/IN and IMS (1) See IP Multimedia Subsystem.

services can be quickly deployed in a cost effective manner using SIGTRAN (SIGnaling TRANsport) An IP telephony protocol from the IETF that is used to transfer SS7 signals over IP networks. The telco switch sends SS7 signals to a signaling gateway (SG) that converts them into SIGTRAN packets, which travel over IP to the next signaling gateway or  or SIP interfaces. The first IP-SDP based product is a CAMEL/IN based SCF providing prepaid/postpaid services for GSM and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band.  networks.

The Service Delivery Platform continues to build on TECORE's philosophy of designing for tomorrows technologies while leveraging legacy network investment. The SCF incorporates TECORE's highly flexible rating engine, allowing operators to provision and deploy highly creative and customizable calling plans to meet customer expectations. Services include prepaid and postpaid voice and SMS for local and roaming subscribers. Support is provided for account top-up, balance transfer, balance enquiry, balance notification, CDR (1) See CD-R and extension.

), CAP/MAP and SIP.

The IP-SDP platform can be deployed in a standalone configuration or integrated with TECORE's highly successful SoftMSC(TM) switching platform. Management and alarm monitoring are provided by TECORE's CoreAccess platform, a field-proven JAVA-based management console for network/element provisioning, configuration and monitoring.

"Service delivery is about more than protocols. Our IP-SDP platform effectively provides operators with a true enabler for IP-based value-added services," said Harry Lewis, TECORE's vice president of Sales. "Whether accessing services via CAMEL/IN/WIN or migrating later to true SIP-based IMS architectures, the Service Delivery Platform enables operators to effectively implement services across multiple access technologies."
