TEAMSTERS SUSPEND BOYCOTT EFFORT AGAINST LUCKY STORES; LUCKY SUSPENDS CONTRACT IMPLEMENTATION; BOTH SIDES AGREE TO MEET TO DISCUSS ISSUES
SAN LEANDRO, Calif., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Both sides in the contract dispute between Northern California Teamsters and the Northern California Division of Lucky Stores, Inc. announced today that they have agreed to suspend actions against each other while they explore a settlement of the issues that separate them.
For its part, the Teamster union will suspend its effort to persuade consumers to boycott Lucky Stores while Lucky will suspend its recently declared impasse and partial contract implementation.
"We are very pleased to be able to reach this agreement with the Teamster locals and we are hopeful that talks will resolve the issues separating us," said Lawrence Del Santo, Chairman and Chief Executive Office of Lucky Stores, Inc.
The two sides have agreed to meet between Oct. 9-25 to explore settlement of National Labor Relations Board and contract issues.
Lucky Stores' Northern California Division operates 188 stores and is headquartered in San Leandro.
