         TEAMSTERS LOCAL STRIKES KROGER IN NASHVILLE

: KR) said today that despite a strike by distribution employees at its Nashville Division warehouse, all 68 Kroger Food Stores in Tennessee Tennessee, state, United States

, Kentucky and Alabama remain open and operating.
    Distribution employees, members of Teamsters Local 327, began a work stoppage last night (June 25).  Approximately 400 Kroger employees are members of the Local.
    The strike began after attempts by the Company to negotiate a settlement on a new contract ended after more than nine months of intense negotiations.  Kroger said representatives of the Company and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) are continuing to discuss terms of a possible contract settlement.
