``I'm unbelievably proud,'' said Sheri Lawson, who formed the team this spring to help keep her 15-year-old daughter Tiffany and the other girls practicing during the summer.

The team is made up of 13 Simi Valley girls and one from Canoga Park. Three are 14, and one is 16 and the rest are 15.

On July 7, the girls lost their first game in a statewide tournament in Lancaster, but came back the next day, winning three consecutive games in 106-degree temperatures to place seventh in the tournament and qualify for the western nationals.

Sheri Lawson said the team is trying to raise funds for the trip to Texas. Anyone who wants to help should call (805) 527-6126.
