TDK Semiconductor Introduces New Line Interface Transceiver IC for E3, DS3, STS-1, and ATM Applications; Offers 3.3 V or 5 V Operation Capability.TUSTIN, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 4, 1998--TDK Semiconductor Corp., a leader in the design and manufacture of communication semiconductors for worldwide markets, is introducing its newest line interface transceiver IC for E3, DS3, STS-1 and ATM applications. The device, designated the 78P2241, operates at both 3.3 V and 5 V power supply voltages. The 78P2241 is a single-chip IC which features a clock recovery and transmitter pulse shaping function for applications using 75-ohm coaxial cable at distances up to 1100 feet. The receiver recovers clock and data from a B3ZS B3ZS Bipolar Three Zero Substitution or HDB HDB Housing Development Board (Singapore government agency) HDB Heidelberg, Germany (Airport Code) HDB Hydrostatic Design Basis HDB High Density Bipolar (AT&T) 3 coded AMI signal. It can compensate for over 12dB of cable loss. According to Kirk Brinkworth, TDK TDK Türk Dil Kurumu (Turkish Language Council) TDK The Dark Knights (gaming clan) TDK Tokyo Denkikagaku Kogyo KK (TDK Electronics Co. Ltd. Semiconductor's director of marketing: "This new device, which is being manufactured in an advanced BiCMOS process, gives the designer the flexibility of 5 V or 3.3 V, with lower power consumption. The primary product applications include digital multiplexers, SONET Add/Drop multiplexers, PDH PDH - Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy equipment, DS3 to fiber optic and microwave modems and ATM/WAN access for routers and switches." The 78P2241 is pin and functionally compatible to TDK Semiconductor's 78P7200. It adds a B3ZS/HDB3 ENDEC, loop-back and clock polarity selection as well as ability to receive a DSX DSX Digital Cross Connect DSX Digital Signal Cross-Connect DSX Data Service Cross-connect DSX Digital Signal Level X monitor signal. The 78P2241 is available off-the-shelf for $33.00 at volumes of 1,000 pieces.
