TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. Netsize, which covers more than 80% of European operators, will initially provide TCS customers with the ability to send text messages from the U.S. to mobile subscribers in the U.K.

The Netsize relationship increases the scope and value of TCS's offering. Netsize is unique in its focus on gaining direct connections to international wireless networks. The Message Distribution Center (MDC) is a service that enables SMS subscribers to send a text message across diverse wireless carrier networks and devices by simply entering the recipient's phone number or unique device number. Without the advantages of the MDC, carriers and enterprises demand that their subscribers know the recipient's wireless e-mail address (e.g. [e-mail]), as carrier networks are not able to pass messages between each other. This requirement hinders the rapid adoption of SMS and thus the carrier and enterprise's ability to generate incremental revenue from value-added services. The MDC service overcomes the obstacles of disparate wireless phone and paging networks, enabling wireless carriers and paging networks to offer user-friendly text-messaging services for the first time.
