TCS Releases 20/20 Delivery Version 5.0; New Features Increase Productivity, Save Time, and Eliminate Costs.ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- TeleCommunication telecommunication Communication between parties at a distance from one another. Modern telecommunication systems—capable of transmitting telephone, fax, data, radio, or television signals—can transmit large volumes of information over long distances. Opportunities for Cost Savings Through Greater Distribution
Operation Efficiency:
-- Wireless Dispatch Support - Extends 20/20 Delivery's
route-based dispatch system to include mid-day wireless
updates via wireless carrier data transmissions, which allows
users to respond to incoming work orders and take better
advantage of resources already in the field.
-- User-Customizable Workflow Configuration - Allows 20/20
Delivery users to create their own "service types" and
handheld screen formats. These new or modified screens can be
deployed to the field in hours rather than the months
typically required by custom solutions.
Alternative Proof of Service (POS) applications are typically
customized by the vendor for a specific vertical market, with
service types and screen workflows that are specific to the
processes and data collected in that industry. The POS
application is used to track when and whether the service
was provided, and conveys the proof thereof along with the
industry-specific data back to the back office system.
These vertically-specific POS applications share several
common features, including date/time stamping of an event and
optional electronic signature capture and/or barcode scanning
of an item associated with the service.
With 20/20 Delivery 5.0, users still receive the same Proof of
Service via scanning, date/time stamping, and signature
capture, but may also collect service-specific data elements.
This feature is critical for customers whose pickup and
delivery drivers perform other services or for automating
mobile workers with in-field data collection requirements.
Mobile device "forms" can include scannable, list box or
text entry fields and can contain multiple screens.
-- Wireless Morning/Evening Syncs - 20/20 Delivery 5.0 extends
its reach to companies whose drivers don't depart from or end
their day at a company-managed terminal. Route-based dispatch
data can now be downloaded to the driver's wireless-enabled
terminal device via a wireless carrier network, which allows
drivers to receive the same data that 20/20 currently delivers
via Ethernet cradle, 802.11b, and dial-up synchronization.
-- Vehicle Load Reconciliation - Drivers can inventory truck
contents via scanning and confirm that all necessary materials
for the day's planned services are loaded. This reconciliation
provides visibility from the dock to the truck and eliminates
associated costs when needed products are missing or misloaded
on another vehicle.
-- Tracking by 20/20 Delivery - Companies now have the option to
expose their Proof of Service information directly to their
customers via their external web site. When implemented, this
feature reduces customer service response times by directing
simple "where's my order" inquiries to the customer's web page
instead of an 800 number.
-- Receipt Customization - This configuration tool allows
customers to modify the appearance of receipts printed by
mobile workers upon service completion and negates reliance on
system integrators or engineers for changes to contact numbers
or mailing addresses.
E[acute accent]Compatibility with More Open Architectures: E[acute accent]--JBoss 3.26 Support - 20/20 Delivery now runs on JBoss 3.26. This Open Source, standards-compliant, J2EE-based application server allows TCS' 20/20 Delivery to deliver a solid Proof of Service application without the high-cost of proprietary application platforms. In addition to the application, these new devices provide the mobile worker with a phone dialer, eliminating the need for a secondary mobile device. E[acute accent]--Data Import/Export Tool - Allows customers with limited information systems expertise to easily integrate their back office systems into 20/20 Delivery. E[acute accent]--Support for Windows 2003 and Linux servers - In addition to the currently supported Windows 2000 and Solaris platforms, the 5.0 release is certified See certification. on the Windows 2003 and Linux platforms many enterprises are deploying in their network operations centers See NOC.
