TAYLOR DEVICES, INC., RECEIVES $4.9 MILLION CONTRACT FOR EARTHQUAKE SHOCK ABSORBERS

 NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Taylor Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: TAYD), received a $4.9 million contract from the County of San Bernardino, Calif., for the firm's new earthquake shock absorbers, it was announced today by Douglas P. Taylor, President.
 The shock absorbers will be used to protect buildings in the new San Bernardino County Medical Center at Colton, Calif. All of the buildings of the new Medical Center, encompassing a total of 900,000 sq. ft. of hospital and support facilities, will be base isolated on rubber isolation bearings, with Taylor Dampers used to dissipate large amounts of an earthquake's energy.
 The contract received from the County of San Bernardino is for 233 Taylor Fluid Viscous Dampers. Each damper will provide 150 tons of absorption force and can move up to 48 inches during and earthquake of the magnitude 8.5 on the Richter Scale. Each damper is 14 feet long and weighs over a ton. Fabrication and assembly of the shock isolators will take place at the company's North Tonawanda plants.
 Douglas P. Taylor, President of Taylor Devices, cited the firm's collaboration with the State University of New York at Buffalo as being instrumental in Taylor Devices' development of Seismic Isolators. "The technology for these products comes straight from our defense product lines, most notably from the government's MX Missile and B-2 Stealth Bomber Programs.
 "The researchers at the University of Buffalo and the National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research at UB, helped us adapt this defense technology to safeguard people and property in earthquake hazard areas. The development of these techniques and products resulting from this cooperative Industry-University relationship will benefit the people of San Bernardino County and help the economy of Western New York."
