Scenic Sherwood Country Club is a visual treat for galleries at the Target World Challenge, and it can be a rewarding place for the participants as well, yielding 142 birdies and 11 eagles to this week's 16-man field through the first two rounds.

But Sherwood also can be punishing, nicking Chris DiMarco Christian Dean DiMarco (born August 23, 1968) is an American golfer who plays on the PGA Tour, and has been in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings.

DiMarco was born in Huntington, New York. He attended University of Florida and turned professional in 1990.

He has had one of the finest careers in European Tour history, having won a record eight Order of Merit titles including a streak of seven consecutively  for triple-bogeys in Thursday's opening round, when it also cost leader Michael Campbell Michael Shane Campbell CNZM (born February 23, 1969) is a New Zealand golfer who is best-known for having won the 2005 US Open and the richest prize in golf, the £1,000,000 HSBC World Match Play Championship, in the same year. Tournament host Tiger Woods, by far the most successful player in the event's five previous years at Sherwood - two wins, three second-place finishes - also had a double bogey and never got more than 1 under par for his round Friday, winding up even-par after the first 36 holes.

Woods said he has been struggling on the greens.

``I just had a hard time finding my lines - a hard time seeing the putts, seeing the lines, feeling my breaks,'' he said. ``I'm having a hard time feeling the slopes in my feet, in my hands, my body. I'm just having a hard time with it.''

The world's No. 1 player, however, could find some humor in his struggles, as evidenced in Woods' laughing description of his double bogey on Sherwood's par-5, 522-yard 11th hole - trouble that started with his approach to the green:

``I had an awkward shot and I hit it over the green,'' he said, ``tried to flop it, nuked it over the green. Then I had no shot, whiffed it almost. Technically, I had a net negative, down the slope. Then from there I went and three-putted.''

Darren Clarke was talking about the risk-reward factors of Sherwood on Thursday, following an opening round of 65 that included two eagles.

``If you drive it well enough, you're going to give yourself a lot of chances,'' Clarke said. ``But if you miss them, you're going to struggle to make pars out of the rough. It's thicker than it's been in the past, so it's going to be even more of a challenge.''
