TAPPI members elect five to the board of directors for the 2004-2006 term.


Roger H. Brear is senior vice president, U.S. Pulp and Paper Manufacturing Group for Domtar Industries, Inc. and is currently based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Brear's paper industry career began in 1969 when he served as a co-op engineer, quality control/process engineer at the Domtar Inc. mill in Cornwall, Ontario Cornwall is a city in eastern Ontario, Canada and the seat of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, Ontario. Brear has been a TAPPI TAPPI Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry  member since 1984. He also serves on the board of governors of the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement.

Gene R. Canavan retired as manager energy & training for International Paper in Prattville, Alabama Prattville is a city located in Autauga County, in the U.S. state of Alabama. A TAPPI member since 1977, Muller has participated in the Ohio Local Section. He also holds various board of directors memberships such as the German Machine Builder Association and the Munich Paper Institute of Science.

Jeffrey J. Siegel is president of Mica Corporation in Shelton, Connecticut, USA, a manufacturer of environmentally friendly adhesives used in flexible packaging.

Siegel joined Mica Corporation in 1986 in financial management and has served as operations manager, vice president. Siegel was elected to the position of president in 2000.

A TAPPI member since 1987, Siegel has served on the Extrusion Coating Committee of the PLACE Division. He has held numerous positions on that committee and served as the Extrusion Coating Committee chairman (1993-1994). Siegel was chairman of the PLACE Division (1998-1999), has been a member of TAPPI's Technical Operations Committee and is currently a member of the Operating Committee of the board of directors. Siegel has been a frequent speaker at TAPPI conferences, short courses and symposia.

In 1994 he received a Best Session Award for his presentation "Extrusion Coating Processing" at the PLC Conference. In 2002 he was honored with the PLACE Division's Leadership and Service Award and the Andreas Ahlbrandt Prize in recognition of his contributions to the organization.

These new TAPPI directors will begin their terms of office following the TAPPI Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony, May 4, 2004 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA in conjunction with TAPPI Paper Summit. Each year TAPPI's members elect five directors to serve three-year terms on the 15-member Board of Directors. The following officers and directors will continue their terms in 2004:
