TANGENT COMPUTER ANNOUNCES ROLL-ALONG NOTEBOOK LABS.


Tangent Computer announced the availability of a mobile, wireless notebook lab designed specifically for education. The Roll-along Notebook Lab consists of a mobile cart, networking equipment, and up to 36 notebook computers.

The Notebook Lab adds versatility to the classroom environment by providing students with full-featured mobile computing Using a computing device while in transit. Mobile computing implies wireless transmission, but wireless transmission does not necessarily imply mobile computing. Fixed wireless applications use satellites, radio systems and lasers to transmit between permanent objects such as buildings .

A wireless network interface card A wireless network interface controller (WNIC) is a network card which connects to a radio-based computer network, unlike a regular network interface controller (NIC) which connects to a wire-based network such as token ring or ethernet.  is used to connect the notebooks to the school network. Teachers can roll the cart to the library or the science lab, and students will still be able to access software applications and the Internet.
