TANDBERG Enhances Product Features.

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 23, 1997--

Makes Videoconferencing Easy, More Reliable

Version B3 software, TANDBERG's new enhancement for its Vision 2000 videoconferencing product line, features Intelligent Call Management, H.263 video compression Encoding digital video to take up less storage space and transmission bandwidth. See video codec and data compression.

and T.120 data conferencing Sharing data interactively among several users in different locations. Data conferencing is made up of whiteboards and application sharing and are often used in conjunction with an audio or videoconferencing connection.  - all designed to keep TANDBERG products ahead of the technology curve while ensuring customers' investment in current hardware.

With Version B3 software, all three configurations of the Vision 2000 (128 kbps, 384 kbps and SoftMux 384 kbps) support both ISDN ISDN

and other external networks. The new software comes standard on TANDBERG Vision 2000s being shipped, while existing customers can upgrade their systems in the field for a small fee.

TANDBERG was the first company to implement the H.263 video standard which provides better efficiency at low bandwidths and creates a 50 percent better picture. If the H.263 standard is not available with remote participant's equipment, the Vision 2000 switches to the H.261 standard. The T.120 data conferencing feature allows ease of use in choosing software for data sharing The ability to share the same data resource with multiple applications or users. It implies that the data are stored in one or more servers in the network and that there is some software locking mechanism that prevents the same set of data from being changed by two people at the same time. . File transfer and application sharing A data conferencing capability that lets two or more users interactively work on the same application at the same time. The application is loaded and running in only one machine; however, keystrokes are transmitted from and screen changes are transmitted to the other participants.  are available through TANDBERG's Dynamic Data Channel.

"By incorporating the B3 feature set in the Vision 2000 product line, TANDBERG is protecting our customers' investment in their videoconferencing technology with products that are software upgradeable," says Marian Levy, vice president of marketing for TANDBERG. "Now, customers do not need expensive hardware upgrades to incorporate new advances in technology."

The Vision 2000 incorporates Intelligent Call Management to automatically optimize the system for the best possible audio and video quality. In addition, ICM ICM Intercom
ICM Integrated Crop Management
ICM International Congress of Mathematicians
ICM Information Classification and Management
ICM Intelligent Contact Management (Cisco)
ICM International Creative Management
has a downspeeding feature that allows the call to continue without interruption even if five channels are dropped. The status of each call is provided in real-time on the monitor. The software is easy to use and saves time and money for businesses by allowing them to complete their conferences without interruption.

Four software variants of B3 are available for the Vision 2000 products: North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. , Europe, Pacific NTSC (National TV Standards Committee) The committee that developed the television standards for the U.S, which are also used in Canada, Japan, South Korea and several Central and South American countries. Both the committee and the standard are called "NTSC.  and Pacific PAL. All versions support English, French, German, Norwegian and Swedish.

"TANDBERG has created a software package with a number of value-added features to provide our customers with videoconferencing that is reliable and easy to use," says Levy.

Adding more value for integrators, TANDBERG now offers support for non-TANDBERG cameras and has increased the data port functionality so that integrators have more flexibility in meeting customers' specific requirements.
