TALISKER OS TO SUPPORT SOCKET'S BLUETOOTH PRODUCTS.

Socket Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:SCKT)(PCX:SOK), San Jose, Calif., has been working with Microsoft and its embedded operating system OEMs to ensure Socket's Bluetooth CompactFlash (CF) Card and embedded Bluetooth modules will be supported on future devices running Talisker.

Microsoft announced the second beta release of Talisker for developers, which includes support for Socket's Bluetooth products. In addition, the beta release includes support for Socket's broad family of plug-in I/O card products.

"Operating system support in Talisker will make it easy for developers to use our products in their development efforts, and ensures broad compatibility across a wide range of embedded operating system devices," said Len Ott, chief technical officer. Socket has created special product packages available for Talisker developers. For more information, contact Socket's Bluetooth program director John Doub by email at johnd@socketcom.com.

Talisker and previous versions of Windows CE are similar to Microsoft's Windows operating system for PCs but used in other devices, such as handheld computers and factory automation equipment. Developers can either pay shipping and handling for a CD version or download a free emulator that allows some of the preliminary development work needed to create a Talisker-based device to be done on a Windows 2000 or Windows XP workstation. For details on how to get the beta release, visit www.microsoft.com/windows/embedded/taliskerpreview.

Socket is a registered member of Microsoft's Embedded System Developers Program and has worked with Microsoft in the past to ensure support of its products by Microsoft's operating systems like Windows CE and Windows 9x/Me/2000/NT. Members of the program are granted privileges such as early access to beta versions of upcoming software releases in order to test product lines and ensure compatibility.
