 TAIT ELECTED COMMUNITY FIRST BANK CHAIRMAN AND PRESIDENT
 BAKERSFIELD, Calif., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- John Tait has been


elected chairman of the board and president of Community First Bank, according to Henry Wheeler, president of Pacific Bancorporation (NASDAQ: PABC), the holding company of the bank.
 Tait was chosen to head the bank following a joint search conducted by Pacific Bancorporation and ValliCorp Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: VALY) The holding companies have signed a definitive agreement to merge. "John Tait's many years of successful experience as a senior bank executive and community leader in our area will be invaluable as we move forward," Wheeler remarked. Tait has been a banker in the San Joaquin Valley for the last 15 of his 23 years in banking. He comes to the bank from a position as a Wells Fargo vice president and district manager. Formerly, he was executive vice president of Bakersfield-headquartered American National Bank, which merged with Wells Fargo.
 "We are poised for expansion in Kern County with an enlarged capital base and lending capacity. John Tait is the executive who will be leading that effort," ValliCorp President and Chief Executive Officer J. Mike McGowan remarked.
 Tait commented, "I look forward to returning to independent banking, banking where the customer truly receives high quality, personal attention by qualified bankers. Community First has a great history and tradition and I look forward to working with our bank's team as we extend our leadership in providing a high quality banking alternative in the Kern County and Central Valley markets."
 Active in community affairs, Tait is the treasurer and a director of the Salvation Army in Bakersfield. Among his other current civic activities are memberships in the Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary Club and the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce.
 Tait is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma School of Commercial Lending and of the University of Washington Pacific Coast School of Banking. He attended the University of Nevada, Reno.
