TACO CONTEST TO RAISE DOUGH.

CASTAIC -- Campus After Dark will hold its 10th Annual Taco-A-Thon on Oct. 15 in Castaic in which teens compete to eat the most tacos and raise money for the organization.

The event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at the home of Jerry and Leah Randall, 30431 Star Canyon Road.

 contest to raise money to send youth counselors to a leadership training conference.

Funds are raised by pledging either per-taco donations or straight contributions. A raffle will be held and trophies will go to the top taco-eaters -- separated by stomach size, gender and age.

Teens, their counselors and supporters have devoured more than 3,000 tacos over the past decade. Niemi, a veteran supporter and board trustee of the 28-year-old Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Established in 1978, Campus After Dark serves high school students throughout the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672. . Volunteer leaders under a professional director supervise off-campus and after-school activities, including weekly socials, recreational outings and overnight excursions geared to teen interests.

Trips include snowboarding and skiing at June Mountain, water skiing and group visits to entertainment centers.
