TACA INTERNATIONAL RECEIVES ITS FIRST BOEING 767-300ER

SEATTLE, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- TACA International Airlines, the national carrier of El Salvador which is building synergistic cooperation and strength among Central American carriers, has taken delivery of its first Boeing 767-300ER, becoming the first airline in Central America to operate the -300ER, the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group confirmed today.
A distinctive logo featuring a long-tailed red, blue and yellow macaw graces the tail of the new 767-300ER. As configured for TACA, the new twinjet is fitted with a single-class seating arrangement for 255 passengers. Ansett Worldwide is leasing the twinjet to TACA. It is powered by Pratt & Whitney 4000 engines.
TACA President and Chief Executive Federico Bloch said, "The 767-300ER provides TACA with the necessary equipment to effectively challenge competitors serving the tough Central American market. We view the Boeing 767 as an absolutely essential link tied to our future success, and the success of the network of Central American carriers in this region."
Operating out of the El Salvadoran capitol of San Salvador, the TACA 767-300ER will serve routes such as San Salvador to Los Angeles, and San Salvador to Miami.
The Boeing 767 makes use of new-generation technology to provide maximum efficiency in the face of rising operational costs, while extending twin-aisle passenger cabin convenience to routes never before served by wide-body airliners.
