TAB Dallas Chapter to Honor 2004 Distinguished Business Leader Ross Perot, Chairman of the Board, Perot Systems Corporation.


DALLAS -- The Dallas chapter of the Texas Association of Business (TAB) announced today that Ross Perot H. Ross Perot (born June 27, 1930) is an American businessman from Texas, who is best known for seeking the office of President of the United States in 1992 and 1996. Perot founded Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in 1962 and later sold the company to General Motors and founded Perot , Chairman of the Board of Perot Systems Perot Systems Corporation NYSE: PER is an information technology services provider based in Plano, Texas. Peter Altabef has served as president, chairman, and chief executive officer since 2004.  Corporation, will be honored as the 2004 Distinguished Business Leader at a September 16th luncheon. For seven years, TAB has recognized Texas business executives who exhibit strong leadership skills, promote ethical business practices and contribute to the local community with the Distinguished Business Leader Award. Past recipients are Dick Cheney, Herb Kelleher Herbert D. Kelleher (born March 12, 1931) is the co-founder, Chairman and former CEO of Southwest Airlines (based in the United States).

Kelleher was born and raised in Haddon Heights, New Jersey.
, Ebby Halliday, Norman Brinker, Robert Dedman, Earl Nye and Ray Hunt.

This year's award recipient, Ross Perot, is chairman of the board of the $1.2 billion-company, Perot Systems, which he founded in 1988. He also founded Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in 1962, now a multi-billion dollar corporation with more than 70,000 employees. As a civic leader, he has impacted the Texas education system, the war on drugs and the U.S. government efforts to assist Vietnam POWs. In addition, he has received the Medal for Distinguished Public Service, the highest civilian award presented by the Department of Defense.

"Ross Perot's record of success, business acumen acumen Astuteness, perception, perspicacity  and civic contributions place him in an elite class of Texas business leaders," said TAB's Distinguished Business Leader Award Committee Chairman Andrew Jackson. "TAB is proud to honor him with this year's Distinguished Business Leader Award."
