T.O. ARTS FESTIVAL SET FOR SWINGING START.

Dancers will samba to blaring music and pounding percussions, actors will improvise and performers will sing childhood classics from ``Schoolhouse Rock'' during an introduction to the 10th annual Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. The Arts Festival is known for several major events, hosted every year. Artwalk '97 on June 7-8 will give residents and visitors alike the opportunity to stroll past designer craft exhibitions.

The All-District Band Festival on May 20 will bring together about 1,000 student musicians from 25 campuses in the Conejo Unified School District A unified school district is a school district which includes both primary school (kindergarten through middle school or junior high) and high school (grades 9-12). In Illinois, these districts are called unit school districts. .

There are also the popular Concerts in the Park. The first performance will take place over Memorial Day weekend.

The city Arts Commission helps to promote the events. During the kickoff at The Oaks, visitors will be given a calendar of events with a copy of original artwork done by a local resident.

Banners will also go up around the city, letting people know of coming events, Roth said.

 Show, held at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, 2331 Borchard Road, May 18 at 2 p.m. Accomplished musicians, including Malibu violinist Laura Zuspan, will perform at the free event. A reception will follow. The event is sponsored by the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley.

The annual Memorial Day Concerts in the Park Kick-Off Performance, Conejo Community Park at Dover and Hendrix, May 26 at 5 p.m. Livingston Taylor will be performing. The free event is sponsored by the city of Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Recreation and Park District.
