T-L's weather station pivot management tailors applications.


T-L Irrigation Co., Hastings, Neb., manufacturer of hydraulically-driven pivot systems, has teamed with the weather instrument maker, Davis Instruments, to produce the GroWeather system for weather station pivot management. GroWeather system is a pivot-mounted unit that senses wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and rainfall. It also calculates growing degree days and water transpiration transpiration /tran·spi·ra·tion/ (tran?spi-ra´shun) discharge of air, vapor, or sweat through the skin.

Information is instantly available on a display screen A surface area upon which text and graphics are temporarily made to appear for human viewing. It is typically a CRT or flat panel technology. and data can be saved, charted or downloaded onto a computer via radio or cell phone. It can be connected to a controller that will shut down irrigation if pre-set weather conditions are exceeded. The companies say there is an advantage in managing irrigation from actual weather circumstances, resulting in saving lots of water.
