Christmas Legend has it that there is only one fruitcake in the world and it travels from person to person.

Thanks to a DC area radio station (Oldies Oldies is a generic term commonly used to describe a radio format that usually concentrates on Top 40 music from the '50s, '60s and '70s.

Oldies are typically from R&B, pop and rock music genres.

Oldies 100 morning DJ, Dave Adler, and producer Don Wicklin, along with Lojack Corporation whipped up the promotion. It is intended to deliver not only the fruitcake, but to pass along the spirit of Christmas with some humor while raising money for the Children's Cancer Foundation.

"We're getting dozens of e-mails from people all over saying they want the fruitcake," reported Oldies 100 morning producer, Don Wicklin. Once you receive the hi-tech fruitcake, a letter instructs you to call the station and report its whereabouts.

The fruitcake has been:

The promotion winds down on Thursday morning, December 23rd, where the Fruitcake will return from it's city-wide travel and end up in the radio booth at 7:08 am. Montgomery County Police Detective Miln will escort the "re-gifted" fruitcake to Dave's Morning Show. One of the recipients from the promotion will be awarded a LoJack anti-theft unit for participating in the nutty fruit caper caper, common name for members of the Capparidaceae, a family of tropical plants found chiefly in the Old World and closely related to the family Cruciferae (mustard family). .
