A small modern village known as Tudmur is on the site. ,Central Syria,(SANA)- Syrian-Polish Archeological Expedition ended its excavations for the current season at Churches Site in Palmyra, west of Baal Shamsine Temple, by discovering the fifth architectural church . The Church is one of biggest ancient churches in Palmyra and of the historical churches in Syria.The Chairman of the Polish expedition said that the structure of the church was uncovered in addition to the Pima where priests and monks used to chant chant, general name for one-voiced, unaccompanied, liturgical music. Usually it refers to the liturgical melodies of the Byzantine, Russian Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Anglican churches and is analogous to cantillation in Jewish liturgical music, Qur'anic chanting Christian hymns. Archeological findings have indicated that the Church was an official building for the local authorities in the Islamic age.Between the ninth and tenth centuries A.D, the main parts of the building were removed and a gate was opened to the north of the church at the eastern wall near the altar in addition to removing other parts of the church. The expedition also discovered some oriental clay relics relics, part of the body of a saint or a thing closely connected with the saint in life. In traditional Christian belief they have had great importance, and miracles have often been associated with them. in addition to coins of unknown origin.
