October EDA Interoperability Developers' Forum Topics

The October 2001 forum highlights OpenVera(TM), the open source hardware verification language A Hardware Verification Language, or HVL, is a programming language used to verify the designs of electronic circuits written in a hardware description language. HVLs typically include features of a high-level programming language like C++ or Java as well as features for ; the announcement of the Liberty(TM) Screener, a new library screener for producing the highest quality libraries; the open source release of the PLIB PLIB Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau

Additionally, two new online discussion forums for the OpenVera community and for the Liberty users' community will be introduced allowing users to share ideas, provide helpful hints, obtain mainstream technical updates, receive feedback from engineers, and post issues. The October forum will also cover new library modeling aspects of Liberty for 2002 and enhancements to the SDC SDC Silver Dollar City

During the forum, the first "Tenzing Norgay Interoperability Achievement Award" will be presented to an EDA company that has gone beyond what was commonly thought possible in the area of interoperability, has actively looked for overall industry advancement, and has helped provide a new view of the future for EDA interoperability. The recipient will have demonstrated the focus for a new kind of effort in which EDA companies The external links in this article or section may require cleanup to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.  work together to address customers' need for interoperable design tools.

"I look forward to congratulating the first winner of the Tenzing Norgay Interoperability Achievement Award at the October 16th Developers' Forum," said Rich Goldman, chair, EDA Consortium Interoperability Committee, and vice president, Strategic Market Development at Synopsys. "I'm honored to recognize this company's significant contributions in tool interoperability for the benefit of all EDA customers."

About the Tenzing Norgay Interoperability Achievement Award

Tenzing Norgay, after whom the Interoperability Achievement Award was named, was the Nepalese Sherpa who conquered Mount Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary. Like EDA interoperability and its relationship to design success, Tenzing is not always recognized as the key to Hillary's triumph. Yet without Tenzing's unfailing determination and vision, Hillary would not have made it to the summit. The Tenzing Norgay Interoperability Achievement Award recognizes EDA companies that have the determination and vision to conquer the challenge of EDA interoperability.

Interoperability Developers' Forum

The Interoperability Developers' Forum, which is a part of Synopsys' program to promote EDA tool interoperability by providing licenses and support of key formats to all EDA vendors, is offered to EDA developers including members of Synopsys' Technology Access Program (TAP-in(SM)) and in-Sync(R) Program. The event series has been well accepted by the EDA community and has experienced steady growth in participation since its inception in 1998.
