Syngenta was created following the demergers of the Novartis agribusiness and the Zeneca agrochemicals business from Novartis and AstraZeneca, respectively, and the combination of these businesses. Syngenta AG is a leading agribusiness company, operating across all major areas of crop protection and seeds, with pro forma sales of approximately USD 7.0 billion for the year ended December 31, 1999.
