Operations of Irvine, California and Beverly, Massachusetts Sites

Symmetricom, Inc. (Nasdaq:SYMM SYMM Synchronized Multimedia (W3C Working Group) ), the world's leading supplier of network synchronization and timing solutions, announced today that it will consolidate its manufacturing facility in Irvine, Calif., with its facility in Beverly, Mass. The move, which is part of the company's post-acquisition plan to capture additional synergies and future reduce operational costs, is expected to be completed by the end of calendar 2003.

The Irvine operations were acquired as part of Symmetricom's purchase of Datum The singular form of data; for example, one datum. It is rarely used, and data, its plural form, is commonly used for both singular and plural. , Inc. in October, 2002. With approximately 150 employees in 46,000 square feet, the facility houses a portion of the company's Technology Realization Center, which is responsible for the design and manufacture of Symmetricom's core atomic clock technologies. Unifying operations is expected to result in a significant reduction in overhead and concentrates technology and talent in one location. Certain Irvine-based employees are being offered transfer packages to other Symmetricom locations, including Beverly and San Jose, Calif.
