IT security company Symantec Corp (Nasdaq:SYMC SYMC Symantec Corporation (stock symbol) ) announced on Monday updates to its backup and archiving software solutions to support Microsoft Exchange Server Microsoft Exchange Server is a messaging and collaborative software product developed by Microsoft. It is part of the Microsoft Servers line of server products and is widely used by enterprises using Microsoft infrastructure solutions.  2010 and other Microsoft applications.

Symantec said its Enterprise Vault Symantec Enterprise Vault (EV) is a product of Symantec Corporation and is one of the most widely-installed email archiving solutions[1][2]. Enterprise Vault software provides an archiving framework to enable the discovery of content held within email, file  archiving solution adds direct drag-and-drop access to the archive from Outlook, which means users do not have to rely on 'shortcut' links from their mailbox. This is now available for previous versions of Exchange and is scheduled to be available for Exchange 2010 in early 2010.

In addition, Symantec Backup Exec Backup Exec is backup software for Microsoft Windows environments currently developed by Symantec. Backup Exec has a long history of being sold from one company to another.  System Recovery 2010, available now, provides fast, reliable system backup and restore for Microsoft Exchange Messaging and groupware software for Windows from Microsoft. Exchange Server is an Internet-compliant e-mail system that runs under Windows NT/2000 and Windows Server 2003. It can be accessed by Web browsers, the Exchange client, versions of Outlook and the earlier Windows Inbox.  2010.

Over the next several months, the company is scheduled to deliver updated versions of NetBackup, Backup Exec and Enterprise Vault to reduce storage by deduplicating information stored in Microsoft Exchange 2010, as well as other applications such as Microsoft SharePoint and Windows Server 2008 R2.

No pricing details were disclosed.
