Sylantro Systems Selects Spirent Communication Abacus 5000 Test System.
Spirent Communications(TM) (NYSE:SPM) (LSE:SPT), today announced that Sylantro Systems has selected Spirent's Abacus 5000 IP Telephony Migration Test System to validate the performance, scalability and reliability of its telecom-grade application server platform.
The comprehensive, high capacity Abacus 5000 IP Telephony Migration Test System incorporates triple play, conformance and security/robustness test methodologies. Triple-play testing provides thorough validation of voice services in the presence of data and video services across the IP and public switched telephone network (PSTN) infrastructures. Conformance testing ensures that products adhere to specified standards whilst robustness testing ensures that reliability and dependability concerns are minimized.
"Spirent's Abacus 5000 test system reinforces our customers' confidence that Sylantro is delivering a deployment-ready, reliable and massively scalable platform to the global IP communications service provider community," said David Illing, senior vice president of Sylantro. "The ability of the Abacus 5000 to emulate real-world VoIP and PSTN traffic under virtually limitless converged applications scenarios is enabling us to thoroughly stress and validate the carrier-grade performance of our platform before it ever reaches our customers' hands."
With Spirent's Abacus 5000 Test System, Sylantro can validate a full range of IP communications and signaling protocols in addition to its support of other emerging IP multimedia, and telephony applications and features, all at the highest capacity levels.
"Sylantro's carrier-scale applications server stands squarely in our roadmap to provide industry leading test platforms for network elements and services that are migrating from the PSTN to IP," said Bahaa Moukadam, vice president, IP Telephony at Spirent Communications. "Leveraging our expertise in both PSTN and IP, and ability to test across those boundaries, we will continue to lead in performance validation that is required to propel suppliers like Sylantro and their customers into the triple-play future."
Sylantro's decision to test with Spirent's Abacus 5000 Test System further affirms the momentum of VoIP among Sylantro's service provider customers around the world. As incumbent and competitive local exchange carriers, inter-exchange carriers, wireless carriers, cable operators and ISPs aggressively compete in this emerging market, they and their suppliers must validate the toll-grade readiness of their infrastructure to serve millions of telephony subscribers migrating from the PSTN to a converged network.
Spirent's Abacus 5000 IP Telephony Migration Test System is available to both service providers and manufacturers to verify the performance of applications servers, softswitches, IP/PSTN gateways and other next-generation equipment.
