Syagen Sells 1,000th PhotoMate(R) APPI Source.

TUSTIN, Calif. -- Syagen Technology Inc., an analytical instrumentation company, has announced the sale of its 1,000th PhotoMate(R) atmospheric pressure photoionization Photoionization

(APPI(R)) source. PhotoMate is available on nearly every liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) system and is sold directly through Agilent, Bruker, Thermo Electron, Waters, and Shimadzu. Syagen is the technology and market leader in photoionization mass spectrometry with nearly a dozen patents issued or pending.

APPI is an important complement to electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization Atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) is an ionization method used in mass spectrometry. It is a form of chemical ionization which takes place at atmospheric pressure.  (APCI) by expanding the range and classes of compounds that can be analyzed, including nonpolar nonpolar

Sensitivity is also excellent over a wide range of flow rates and signal is linear over typically five orders of magnitude. APPI is a rapidly growing method that has been the focus of several recent symposia at leading conferences and tradeshows.

"The mass spectrometry community is enthusiastically adopting APPI and is developing new breakthroughs and discoveries in the analytical chemistry field. New applications highlighting the unique benefits of APPI continue to be reported to be spoken of; to be mentioned, whether favorably or unfavorably.
