(Sports Sensors). The Swing Speed Radar is a microwave Doppler radar A system for measuring speed that is based on the Doppler effect. It is used in police radar systems as well as for measuring the velocity of hurricanes and tornadoes. See Doppler effect.  velocity sensor A device that measures or detects a real-world condition, such as motion, heat or light and converts the condition into an analog or digital representation. An optical sensor detects the intensity or brightness of light, or the intensity of red, green and blue for color systems.  that helps assist players in developing and optimizing their swing speed by providing a convenient real-time measure of their swing velocity.
