Swig unveils latest lobby art.


Kent M. Swig, president of Swig Equities, announced the installation of the most recent work of art in the continuing art program for Swig Equities' portfolio of office properties.

Artist Robert Melee Robert Melee (born 1966) is an artist based in New Jersey.

Melee was born in New Jersey. He makes mulitimedia art – videos, installations, collages etc - which is focussed on the relationship between the artist and his mother.
 was commissioned through the Andrew Kreps Gallery to create an installation which is now displayed in the newly created 28 foot high, limestone lobby area of 44 Wall Street, a 350,000 s/f office building located in the heart of Downtown Manhattan.

. These works, which incorporate both painting and sculpture, highlight modularity and color relationships, thereby manipulating the viewer's perspective.

Andrew Kreps Gallery opened in Soho in 1997, and has been working with New jersey-based Melee since 1999. After being located on 20th Street in Chelsea for the past 6 years, they have relocated re·lo·cate

. One work is a painting that has been installed in the building's mid lobby area which was painted by artist Jerald leans, who was born and works in St. Louis.

The second work of art, also on display in the lobby area of 5 Hanover Square is a video installation. The video is by South African-born artist, Robin Rhode. Rhode is primarily engaged in performance-based work, and employs a wide variety of media including photography, video and drawing. Using the lo-fi technique of white chalk, he executes his drawings on the street or directly on building walls, often as a comment on the socio-economic conditions of his surroundings.

All the works of art that are on display throughout the Swig Equities' portfolio have been curated by Liz Swig.
