Co-sponsored by the Barnard College Barnard College: see Columbia University.  Department of Dance and WAX in Brooklyn, the Sugar Salon is the brainstorm of choreographers Tami Stronach Tamara Stronach (born July 31, 1972 in Tehran, Iran) is a dancer and choreographer who has also worked as an actress.

Stronach was born in Tehran, Iran to Scottish and Israeli parents.
 and Kate Weare in collaboration with Mary Cochran, chair of dance at Barnard. Their plan is to identify talented sister choreographers and nurture their work. For this first year, the chosen three get a rehearsal residency at Barnard, a performance date in Manhattan, and the opportunity to be mentored by Susan Marshall Susan Marshall (born October 17 1958) is an American choreographer and dancer. She formed the dance collective Susan Marshall & Company in 1982, working initially with dancers Arthur Armijo, David Dorfman, Jackie Goodrich, and David Landis. , one of the gender's finest choreographers. After an arduous audition process, Ivy Baldwin, Yanira Castro, and Dana Ruttenberg were selected and will share a program with a world premiere by Marshall at Symphony Space Oct. 10.
