Swanke Hayden Connell Architects has named Cathryn Bang, AIA, director of healthcare planning.

Bang has over 18 years of experience in master planning, programming, medical planning and design of healthcare facilities. She has played a key role as lead healthcare planner in the planning and design of numerous "notable projects" that include the nation's leading teaching hospitals and trauma canters.

Some of her recent projects include the University of Southern California The U.S. News & World Report ranked USC 27th among all universities in the United States in its 2008 ranking of "America's Best Colleges", also designating it as one of the "most selective universities" for admitting 8,634 of the almost 34,000 who applied for freshman admission  Medical Center, a new 1.47 million square foot teaching hospital; the University of California The University of California has a combined student body of more than 191,000 students, over 1,340,000 living alumni, and a combined systemwide and campus endowment of just over $7.3 billion (8th largest in the United States).  at Los Angeles Academic Health Center, a new 1.1 million square foot facility; and the Central California Regional Medical Center, a new 350,000 square foot trauma center at the University of California at San Francisco.

Bang received a bachelor of arts in architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley The University of California, Berkeley is a public research university located in Berkeley, California, United States. Commonly referred to as UC Berkeley, Berkeley and Cal . She is a member of The American Institute of Architects The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is a professional organization for architects in the United States. Organized in 1857, the Institute conducts various activities and programs to support the profession and enhance its public image, including periodically awarding the AIA  and the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health, and sits on the AIA Committee on Architecture for Health. She also sits on the ASHE of the American Hospital Association's National Healthcare Planning-Design-Construction committee.

Her professional affiliations include the Union of International Architects, Healthcare and the International Federation of Healthcare Engineering (IFHE IFHE International Federation for Home Economics

).
