) today announced sales of 8,179 units in January - an increase of 13 percent over January of 2006 and the best January sales in company history. The new monthly sales record follows a record-setting 2006, when ASMC enjoyed automobile sales of 100,990 vehicles for the first time in its 22-year history.

ASMC's record month was led by sales of the new XL7 crossover SUV with 2,206 units sold in January; a 46 percent increase over 2006 and a 52 percent increase in sales of the Aerio and SX4 models. In addition, sales of the popular Forenza family of vehicles increased an impressive 23 percent over last year's numbers.

"Suzuki's exciting automobile sales momentum is continuing into 2007," said Koichi Suzuki, president of American Suzuki Automotive Operations. "In 2006, Suzuki achieved a significant milestone in the U.S. by surpassing 100,000 units in annual sales and we expect growing sales of the XL7 and the SX4 to help us continue to sell Suzuki automobiles at a record pace."
