Sutron Receives Notice of Contract Award for $4,556,000.


STERLING, Va. -- Sutron Corporation is pleased to announce official receipt of an eagerly-awaited $4,556,000 Notice of Acceptance from the Government of India's Central Water Commission (CWC CWC Chemical Weapons Convention

Award of the Notice was granted in response to Sutron's proposal based on CWC specifications for the "Supply, Installation, Testing, Commissioning and Maintenance of a Real-Time Data Acquisition Network Consisting of 168 Hydro-Met Stations on a Turn-Key Basis for Collection, Transmission and Processing of Hydro-Meteorological Data. Also, Associated Systems for 12 CWC Modelling Centers including Hardware, Software and Peripherals, as well as VSAT (Very Small Aperture satellite Terminal) A small earth station for satellite transmission that handles up to 56 Kbits/sec of digital transmission. The contract, valued at $4,556,000, also gives Sutron a four-year maintenance contract after the two-year warranty period has expired. The contract start date is December 16, 2005. Final system acceptance will be accomplished within 300 days.

This CWC contract award combined with the India Meteorological Department The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is a government of India organisation that is responsible for meteorological observations, weather forecasts, and detecting earthquakes.  contract announced on December 2, 2005, total over $6,120,000, and put Sutron's year-to-date bookings at $20,169,295 as of the date of this press release.

Sutron designs, manufactures, installs, and supports system solutions for the following applications: weather, flood, coastline and tides, water level/quality, dams and hydropower, irrigation irrigation, in agriculture, artificial watering of the land. Although used chiefly in regions with annual rainfall of less than 20 in. (51 cm), it is also used in wetter areas to grow certain crops, e.g., rice. , rainfall, and aviation weather. Sutron is a major supplier of hydro-met and oceanic systems, equipment and software to collect, store, and transmit data from extreme locales to desktop, laptop and pocket PCs worldwide by satellite, internet, radio and/or telephone.
