Sustainable Growth Advisers, LP Launched Today; Firm Founded by Industry Veterans.

Business Editors

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2003

Sustainable Growth Advisers, LP--a New York-based investment advisory firm--today announced that it has formally begun operations.

Launched by Gordon M. Marchand and George P. Fraise, the firm will focus on managing portfolios for both U.S. and non-U.S. institutions-- including mutual funds--and individuals. The firm's portfolio managers will leverage their extensive experience to provide clients a sound investment approach, using a process of investing for the long term in the best businesses at reasonable prices.

Prior to launching Sustainable Growth Advisers, Marchand and Fraise were with Yeager Wood & Marshall Inc. - a New York-based advisory firm with $900 million in assets under management Assets Under Management (AUM) is a term used by financial services companies in the mutual fund and money management or investment management business to gauge how much money they are managing. . Both were directors and served on the firm's three-member investment policy committee.

Fraise was co-portfolio manager of the John Hancock U.S. Global Leaders Growth Fund (which was subadvised by Yeager Wood & Marshall, Inc.), and of the U.S. Global Leaders Growth Fund, Ltd - an offshore fund -- a position he held for three years. During this time, the John Hancock U.S. Global Leaders Growth Fund, an equity fund focused on long-term growth, had a Five-Star ranking from Morningstar.

Marchand and Fraise are principals and founders of Sustainable Growth Advisers, LP.

Marchand said: "We founded Sustainable Growth Advisers on the principal that a well-managed organization, with a team of experienced investment professionals committed to independent research and dedicated to a time-tested investment management approach can provide clients with substantial value.

He continued: "Currently, we are focused on assessing opportunities for investment mandates focused on large-cap growth, particularly in a subadvisory capacity. We expect to quickly add clients to our roster."

Fraise said: "We are pleased to be launching this venture on the heels of our previous success in the advisory area. We believe there is a tremendous market opportunity for a sound investment approach based on investing in sustainable-growth companies. The past few years have clearly demonstrated the importance of adhering to a sound investment process. I am looking forward to building on my experience.

Marchand, who brings 24 years in investment management and consulting experience to his new position, was with Yeager Wood & Marshall, Inc. for a total of 17-years and served as the firm's Chief Financial and Operating Officer. Previously, Marchand was a manager with the Management Consulting Noun 1. management consulting - a service industry that provides advice to those in charge of running a business
