Survey ranks Delaware Court as fairest.


Most senior corporate attorneys give a ranking of fair or poor to liability systems in state courts across the country, with a wide gap between the best and worst states, according to according to

States with the best-rated legal systems have an advantage over other states in attracting new jobs, investment and economic growth, according to the new report by the institute, an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest not-for-profit federation of businesses, representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations in the United States. As of 2003, the chamber was comprised of 3000 state and local chambers and 830 business associations. .

The 2003-2004 survey of 1,400 senior attorneys showed that 56% gave an overall ranking of fair or poor to the state court liability system, down from 65% in 2002-2003, the institute said. In addition, 80% of those surveyed said the litigation environment in a state could affect important business decisions of their companies.

Best to Worst Legal Systems in America

Survey respondents indicate that Delaware is tops for creating a reasonable and fair litigation environment, while Mississippi is considered the worst.
